Petrol Subsidy Scheme 2026: Eligibility and How to Apply

Petrol is not cheap, and small vehicle owners feel it every week. To ease the burden, the government has started the PM Fuel Relief Scheme.
Under the petrol subsidy scheme, eligible owners get Rs. 100 off on every litre of petrol. The scheme is made for low- and middle-income families.
This guide explains who can join, how much you can save, and what you need to carry to the pump. It also shows where to go if something goes wrong.
What Is the Petrol Subsidy Scheme?
It is a discount program run by the Government of Pakistan. You do not get free petrol. Instead, the government pays part of the price, so you pay Rs. 100 less per litre. You get this discount at registered petrol stations.
The Petroleum Division has shared that funds for three months have been set aside for the scheme. It also says Rs. 25 billion for the first month has already been provided. This shows the program has a budget behind it.
Which Vehicles Are Covered?
Two groups of vehicles can benefit:
- Motorcycles, rickshaws, and Qingqis that are registered up to 20 years old
- Small cars up to 800cc, including 660cc Japanese cars and models like Mehran, Alto, and Bolan
Bigger cars are not part of the scheme. If your vehicle is older than 20 years, check the latest rules before you register.
Monthly Limits at a Glance

Each vehicle type has its own limit. Here is a simple comparison:
| Bikes, Rickshaws, Qingqis | Cars up to 800cc | |
|---|---|---|
| Discount | Rs. 100 per litre | Rs. 100 per litre |
| Monthly limit | Up to 20 litres | Up to 30 litres |
| How you get it | 4 weekly tokens of Rs. 500 | 3 tokens of 10 litres each |
| Token timing | Once a week | Every 10 days |
How Much Can You Save?
A little math shows the real benefit.
- A bike owner who uses the full 20 litres saves Rs. 2,000 a month.
- An 800cc car owner who uses the full 30 litres saves Rs. 3,000 a month.
That is real money for a household budget, especially if you drive to work every day.
A Big Change: No More 5-Litre Minimum
At first, bike and rickshaw owners had to buy at least 5 litres to use their token. This rule has now been removed.
You can use your token without that minimum, which makes it easier for people who only need a little petrol at a time.
How to Apply in Short
Registration is done by SMS, and it is free. You send your details to the petrol relief code 9771. After you get a confirmation message, you send TOK to the same number to receive your token.
We have explained the full SMS format and the province codes in a separate guide. You can read it here: how to register for petrol subsidy.
